Spend the day exploring Fes, the spiritual and cultural heart of Morocco. Begin with a visit to the Fes el Bali Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its narrow streets filled with bustling markets and traditional workshops, including the iconic Chouara Tanneries. Key highlights include Al Quaraouiyine University, the world’s oldest still-operating university, and the beautiful Bou Inania and Al Attarine Madrasas, celebrated for their impressive architecture. You’ll also visit the sacred Zaouia Moulay Idriss II shrine and admire the exterior of the Royal Palace while exploring the Fes el Jdid district.

Start your journey early, around 7:00 AM, to cover the long but scenic drive from Marrakech to Zagora. You will travel through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass, followed by visits of ancient kasbahs, and marvel at the vast Draa Valley with its sea of palm trees. You will enjoy scenic views and a guided tour of Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its iconic earthen kasbahs. After exploring this historic village and enjoying a local lunch, the journey continues to Zagora, passing through the lush Draa Valley filled with palm groves and traditional Berber villages.Upon arriving in Zagora, you'll embark on a camel trek into the desert, taking in the stunning landscapes as the sun sets. As evening falls, you will reach your Berber camp, where you’ll enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner, listen to captivating Berber music, and gaze at the star-filled sky - a peaceful desert moment. After breakfast at Tizi Desert Camp, begin your journey south towards Mhamid, often referred to as the gateway to the vast Sahara Desert. Upon arrival, take a moment to explore the village and absorb the tranquil surroundings. From Mhamid, continue your off-road journey through the beautiful, untouched landscapes of the Sahara Desert, with its sweeping dunes and rugged terrain.

Your next stop is the desert town of Tamgroute, known for its rich cultural history. Visit the Quranic Library, which houses ancient manuscripts that date back to the 12th century, and learn about the area's intellectual heritage. You will also have the chance to explore the subterranean kasbah, a labyrinth of tunnels and chambers that gives insight into traditional Moroccan architecture and the history of the region.

Afterward, continue your journey, heading toward the Chegaga Dunes. Upon arrival at the Chegaga Desert Camp, you’ll be greeted with the incredible sight of the towering sand dunes that stretch as far as the eye can see. Settle into your camp, and then take a short excursion to the dunes to experience a stunning Sahara sunset. The golden sands will transform into a vivid palette of colors as the sun dips below the horizon.

As night falls, enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner under a star-filled sky, accompanied by live music around a crackling campfire. The quiet of the desert and the rhythm of the music create a magical atmosphere, making this evening one to remember.

Start your day in the mesmerizing desert landscape of Chegaga. Depart from the vast dunes and travel towards Foum Zguid, a small village on the edge of the Sahara. On the way, enjoy the dramatic desert scenery, with its golden sand dunes and rugged, rocky terrain. From there, drive towards the bustling town of Ouarzazate, often called the "Gateway to the Sahara." Known for its historical kasbahs and film studios, Ouarzazate is a highlight for many visitors. Visit Taourirt Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and if time permits, stop by the Atlas Film Studios, where famous films like Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia were shot.

After exploring Ouarzazate, head to Skoura, where you’ll be surrounded by lush palm groves and dramatic mountain views. Take in the beauty of the Amridil Kasbah, a symbol of local architecture, and relax in the peaceful surroundings of the oasis.

After breakfast, depart from Skoura and travel through the Dades Valley, stopping to explore the vibrant Berber villages along the way. Visit the Dades Gorges before continuing on to Tineghir, where you’ll admire the lush palm groves. Head to the Todra Gorges and take a trek along the impressive 300-meter-high cliffs, a favorite spot for mountain climbers and nature enthusiasts.

After exploring the gorges, continue eastward toward the Sahara Desert with a lunch stop along the way. En route to Erfoud, you’ll encounter ancient khettarat—ingenious underground water channels that help prevent evaporation in the desert climate. You’ll have the chance to descend into these channels to experience the coolness and marvel at the historic engineering. In Erfoud, known for its fossils and figs, visit a workshop where fossil-rich stones are crafted into unique items.

Continue to the Erg Chebbi dunes, arriving in the late afternoon. Enjoy the breathtaking desert landscape before settling into a riad near the Merzouga dunes for the evening. This riad offers an ideal place to relax and prepare for the unforgettable experience of the Sahara.

After breakfast, embark on a full day of desert adventures around Merzouga. Start with a visit to the nearby Khamlia village, renowned for its vibrant Gnawa music. Here, you’ll enjoy a traditional music performance and gain insight into the rich cultural heritage of this community.

Around midday, enjoy a unique Berber lunch, featuring the delicious and traditional Berber pizza (Medfona), a stuffed bread cooked and filled with meat, spices, and vegetables—a true local specialty!

In the afternoon, continue your exploration with a 4x4 tour around the Erg Chebbi dunes, visiting nomadic settlements to experience the lifestyle of local desert families. You’ll also have the chance to visit fossil sites, learning about the unique geological history of the Sahara.

As evening approaches, meet your camels and set out on a beautiful sunset camel ride through the golden dunes, arriving at a traditional Berber desert camp. Upon arrival, enjoy a warm welcome and a delicious dinner around a campfire, accompanied by traditional music, under the magical, star-studded sky of the Sahara.

An early wake-up to enjoy the sunrise over the highest dune of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga, one of the best moments of the desert. Afterward, you will have breakfast in the camp, pack, and go back either on camels or by 4x4 leaving the dunes behind to meet your driver.

Drive along the Ziz Valley, remarkable for the extent of its palm trees and the volume of dates produced each year. Notice the many ksars, fortified houses merchants built to protect their wares. Stopping for a panoramic view of the oasis of Aoufous in the Tafilalte region. Continuation to Midelt (the 'apple city') for lunch. Appreciate the scenery: the Moulouya River and the apple orchards, crossing the pass of Tizi N’tlramt.

After lunch, you will be driven to Fes (the medieval city) via the Cedar forest near Azrou and the mountain of the middle Atlas with the possibility to see the Barbary apes (monkeys). You may have a stop in Ifrane (the Switzerland of Morocco). At the end of the day, you arrive at the spiritual capital of Morocco – Fes. After a long day on the road, we drop you off at your accommodation.

On your final day, you’ll transfer from your accommodation in Fes to Fes Airport, ensuring that you arrive in time for check-in before your flight. As you reflect on your incredible journey across Morocco—from the vibrant streets of Fes, through the majestic Sahara Desert, to the historic Imperial Cities—you’ll remember the landscapes, culture, and warm hospitality that make Morocco so unique. The drive from Fes to the airport typically takes about 30 minutes, allowing for a smooth and scenic transfer.
